This is a composite of 15 individual photos taken on two different days, under changing weather and lighting conditions.
Each photo was approached from a different angle, taken as I strolled around the tree, trying to keep my distance constant, the camera level, and the tree centred in the frame. One day, the ground was firm. The next day, it was squishy.
This technique works best under subdued or flat lighting conditions. Otherwise, the high contrast renders a harsh and unflattering outcome.
Among the scores of photos I sorted through when I got home, I narrowed the selection down to 15 that I thought blended well together.
My aim was to produce a dreamlike rendering that encourages the viewer to stop and ponder how multiple points of view combine to create harmony.
This composite photograph is available in framed limited editions of five 8×10 prints and 10 5×7 prints.
